EXTENSION OF SERVICE LIFE TO 12000 HOURS

Applicable to the Standard Libelle and Standard Libelle 201B. Fatigue testing on a wing spar section has justified the extension of service life of the Standard Libelle and Standard Libelle 201B to 12000 hours provided that each glider is subject to a special multi stage inspection program to verify the airworthiness of each aircraft. The inspection program begins at 3000 hours total time in service and must be repeated every 1000 hours to a total time in service of 12000 hours. Issue 1 of this Airworthiness Directive required the flight manual to be updated by adding pages E18 and E19 to the flight manuals which covered the steps necessary to extend the service life to 6000 hours. This issue of the AD requires that pages E20 and E21 be added to the flight manual which detail the steps necessary to extended the life from 6000 hours to 12000 hours.
