MISCELLANEOUS AIRWORTHINESS INFORMATION - VENTUS a, VENTUS a/16.6, VENTUS b, VENTUS b/16.6 AND VENTUS c 

The weight limits for the Ventus a, a/16.6, b and b/16.6 are complicated and poorly understood. The first clarification of the weight increase was GFA AD 274 issued in 1993. Schempp-Hirth reissued Technical Bulletin No. 349-7 in 1986 but this was not promulgated. As these weight increases are optional GFA AD 274 has been cancelled. 1. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-6 describes the optional conversion of Ventus a to Ventus a/16.6 and Ventus b to Ventus b/16.62. 2. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-8 describes the optional installation of a tail wheel to Ventus a/16.6, Ventus b/16.6 and Ventus c. 3. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-10 describes the optional use of swept up wing tips on Ventus a/16.6, Ventus b/16.6 and Ventus c. 4. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-11 describes the optional conversion of Ventus a/16.6 and Ventus b/16.6 to Ventus c. 5. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-14 describes the optional fitment of a tilt up instrument panel to Ventus a, Ventus a/16.6, Ventus b, Ventus b/16.6 and Ventus c. This TN was reissued on 20.2.1996. 6. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-15 describes the optional installation of tow release mechanisms E 85 and Europa G88. 7. GFA Approved Modification 88/8 describes the optional increase in rudder surface area. 8. GFA Approved Modification 91/1 describes the optional change of aileron differential. 9. Schempp-Hirth Technical Note No. 349-18 describes the optional installation of “Wedekind” safety sleeves for safetying of L’Hotellier couplings instead of the conventional safety pins.
