PRECAUTIONARY SPEED LIMITATIONS LS 3

During a recent competition type start to a glider flight, a LS 3 glider sustained a partial structural failure of the tailplane but was landed safely. It was claimed that the glider was operated within the operational limitations of the glider type. Subject to the outcome of the investigation into this failure the glider types Vne is to be limited to 103 knots and maximum winch load speed is to be limited to 60 knots. Cockpit placards are to be amended accordingly.Â
