Several occurrences of separation of MDM-1 “Fox” sailplane aileron control bell crank console from its mount have been reported. This condition, if not detected and corrected, could lead to reduced control, or even a loss of control, of the sailplane. To address this unsafe condition, Zakłady Lotnicze Margański & Mysłowski have developed Service Bulletin (SB) No BO-16/2011 MDM-1 FOX, which provides instructions for operational checks of the aileron control system and the installation of a placard with operational limitations. For the reasons described above, this AD requires accomplishment of repetitive operational checks of the aileron control system and installation of placard.
