REMOVAL Of CATEGORY RESTRICTIONS - POLISH GLIDERS (BOCIAN / MUCHA VARIANTS)
Following the recommended restriction of the Bocian to 'Normal' Category, examination of Bocian gliders damaged in Australia has shown that the glue used (not casine) can fail under shock loading. The glue is, however, perfectly safe and satisfactory when subjected to normal flight loads. As a result of these investigations, it has been decided that no special restrictions need be placed on the flying of Polish gliders. Should the glider be subjected to a heavy landing, however, it should be grounded until cleared by a CoA Inspector. As regards to the Bocian, particular attention should be paid to the rear fuselage in the region of the tail attachment. The 'advisory' downgrading of Bocian and Mucha gliders from'Normal/Aerobatic' to 'Normal' Category can now be lifted.
