REPLACEMENT OF RUDDER CABLE
Applicable to the PIK-20 and PIK-20B sailplane, all serial numbers. During replacement of rudder cables fraying of the right hand rudder cable was traced to a fracture of the nylon tube fairlead. This was caused by the fitting of the landing gear operating control mechanism where spreading of the inert nut legs when tightened the attachment bolts applied pressure on the nylon tube. Fracture of the nylon tube led to the fraying of the rudder cable. This situation may exist in other gliders of the same types listed.
