LEAKING OF WATER BALLAST INTO REAR FUSELAGE
Applicable to the ASW-17 sailplane, all models, all serial numbers. It has been found that the PVC hoses at both water ballast exhausts at the bottom of the fuselage behind the undercarriage main wheel expand with heat despite their nylon fibre reinforcement. As a result, water ballast can leak into the fuselage when the water ballast valve is opened making the glider tail heavy beyond the aft tolerances.
